Christianity in Asia explores the spread of the religion across Asia, and the art it inspired. This fully illustrated catalogue documents and expands on exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore, in 2016. Essays discuss how local Asian artists interpreted well-established iconography with new materials and in surprising ways; the earliest Christian art in Central Asia, India, and China; interest in Christian art at the Islamic courts; and art associated with missionary activities in China, South and Southeast Asia, and Japan.
