Author Biography: Rahel Joseph is Gallery Director of ILHAM. A lawyer by training, she has over 20 years’ experience working in arts and culture. She was formerly at Galeri PETRONAS where she managed the exhibitions and public programmes and was the Director of Cultural Affairs at the Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur for over seven years where she initiated and managed several artist residencies including the AHC Visual Art Awards. She has co-curated various exhibitions including Love Me in My Batik, Modern Batik Art from Malaysia and Beyond (2016) and Gerak, Rupa, Ubur, Penyataan, 1957 – 1971 (2017) and also co-facilitated ILHAM Contemporary Forum Malaysia 2009 – 2017 (2017), for ILHAM Gallery. She has written extensively for both editorial and print media and had a column in the New Straits Times and the Nutgraph writing about arts and culture. She is co-editor of Narratives of Malaysian Art Vol 3. Jo Kukathas is the co-founder and artistic director of The Instant Café Theatre Company, and a versatile talent who acts, writes and directs. Graduating with a degree in politics and philosophy, Kukathas spent the early part of her career teaching literature and proof-reading the book of her father K. Das, the political writer and former bureau chief of the Far Eastern Economic Review.
